SBI also in front with paddling a boat

Like last year, the Aqua Runners of SBI Wettenberg showed their prowess in competing with the best paddlers of the Giessen Dragon Boat Cup. During the 4th Giessen Dragon Boat Cup on 18 August 2007, they were supported by a Schunk fan mile of colleagues from the Wettenberg and Heuchelheim locations.

In glorious sunshine, the Aqua Runners had a super start for their first race. The smoothly functioning team simply "outran" their competitors, Ekom' Black Pearl and the Mittelhässliche Wasserzwerge (the Quite Ugly Water Midgets). Drummer-girl Claudia Schaaf with her urgent encouragements had the boys and girls well under control. In this race, the Aqua Runners achieved 4th place overall among 31 teams, thanks to their expert, synchronised paddling, and qualified for the quarter-final where they were unlucky not to qualify. This did no harm to the team spirit of the group. All paddlers had given their best; nobody was excluded during the heats. Despite everything, nothing could stop their motivation and this is still the case up to now so they all are looking forward to the next competition on 8th September at Hanau. With a team spirit like this, it’s a winning team anyway.

The Aqua Runners were especially pleased that so many enthusiastic Schunk supporters and friends stood along the banks and cheered them on since: "As a team, everything is possible!“
